To enjoy the leisurely pace of village life, walk or bicycle into the neighboring village of Batuagung, join in village ceremonies including temple festivals, cremations, or the ever populer cock fighting, visit Negara’s busy central market and buy goods at Balinese prices,watch the Sunday Makepung bull races, join the locals in a late afternoon bath in the nearby stream, take lessons on the instruments of the huge bamboo jegog musical ensemble, or for a relatively small fee, hire an entire jegog troupe of 30 musicians and dancers and invite the whole village for an evening of festivies. Or just take it easy by our swimming pool and look out over the beautiful green rice fields.The joys of West Bali are simple, but they endure. Trekking : Cahaya Matahari is a great starting point for a variety of treks. Join our staff for a leisurely 2 to 3 hour trek across rice paddies and into the nearby forest. Or with one of our guides, go up the road and into the mountains for any number of 2 to 4 hour treks stopping off to visit local villagers doing songket weaving. For the more ambitions, we can arrange for overnight trek to the cool springs of Kelepus, or a 3 day trek to the beautiful water falls at Yeh Masee. For the latter two, advance notice is necessary
